Moving to LA and really want to live in Hermosa Beach/Redondo area. We have previously spent a lot of time there and really love it. We really want to make it work living there.

The problem is one of us works in Burbank and the other SantaMonica. I'm not too worried about the commute to SM but what would the commute to Burbank really be? Working hours would be 7am - 4.30/5pm. Any help would be really helpful. Is park and ride an option? or the subway?

Alos would anyone be able to recommend any other similar beach communities that would possibly be a better commute for us?

1.5 hours each way i'd guess, if not longer. it's almost an hour with no traffic. SM to burbank is 45-60 minutes on most days, i've made that drive more than a few times.

At that hour, at least an hour and longer on the way back. My suggestion is to arrange flex hours with the employer. How about 6am-2:30/3pm? I did this for years. At that hour the commute to Burbank would be about 30min and slightly longer on the way back... good luck

The commute from South Bay to Burbank would be as bad as the other posters have said. You could make it slightly better by living as close to the 405 or 105 as possible. If your Burbank office is near the Burbank Airport or downtown Burbank, you might find it workable to take the Metro silver line (express bus, 40 min) from the Artesia transit center to Union Station, then Metrolink (train) to Burbank (15-20 min). Similar time as driving, but more predictable timing than the freeways.

Manhattan Beach is only 4 minutes North of Redondo Beach , so you wouldn't be cutting any time off your commute

Why not Culver City? West Hollywood? or areas right of the 90? Not close to the beach, but near enough by car, and will cut down on commute time to Burbank and its near SM.

Forget the commute from Burbank to South Bay. I did NoHo to South Bay commute for a month, wouldn't wish it to an enemy.
