Hi everyone. Can anyone shed some light on what this area is like to live in? We're in downtown Long Beach now, and really like it here, but have received a very large rent increase, so we need to move. We found a great apartment in "Old Town" San Pedro on 5th (off Harbor Blvd) but I'm reading some bad things about the area, but they are a bit old.

Thanks!

That's exactly where we are looking! The apartment is fantastic, but is the area it is in okay?

I've spent a lot of time there and never thought of it as being an unsafe neighborhood. There are some nice little local shops/restaurants there including the great coffee shop Sacred Grounds, and the old movie theatre. I definitely think of that area as being pretty safe/clean/etc.

Thank you for that information. I'm wondering if perhaps some of the opinions from a few years ago were when the area was differnet, like Long Beach was many years ago. I'll have to remember Sacred Ground, I think we drove past it when we were driving around and there seemed to be quite a few people there.
