I thought I'd make a rant on places in Los Angeles where I think street gangs frequent more often, apart from their respective turfs.

Known Gang Hangouts - Venice Beach, Hollywood, formerly Westwood, MacArthur Park, Crenshaw Boulevard, Skid Row.

These are my assumptions where street gangs hang out in the city, when they step outside their territories.

I've been here almost a year and have been everywhere. I can't tell whose in a gang and whose not. Sometimes they all look the same. Maybe that's a good thing. What I don't know won't hurt me.
Back in the 80s when I first visited california and arizona, they wore fishnets/plaid shirts and wife beaters. I don't see that too much anymore.

Street corners, dark alleyways, railyards, tennis courts, the 'club', under the bridges, etc.

Chicago has regained Number 1 status. SoCal as a whole is still Number 1 regionally speaking as the suburbanization of L.A. gangs started long before that of Chicago gangs.

Atlanta's Number 3 and moving up fast, and may surpass L.A.

You forgot Elysian Park. (And not just Dodger Stadium, either). The gangbangers who hang there, outside their territories, don't just hang out and prey on the gay cruisers, they participate in the anonymous gay cruising scene as well (in secret so their friends don't find out). Reminds me of a story the L.A. Weekly ran years ago about a bathhouse in Compton - various Crip and Blood sets had an agreement not to pull any crap in there, because doing so would raise questions amongst their homies as to why they're in a gay bathhouse in the first place. Don't know if it still exists.

You also forgot Magic Mountain, at least in the past (mainly because it's located between the Northern San Fernando Valley and the Antelope Valley, both big gang areas)

What do the gang bangers do all day besides terrorize the neighborhood ?
There are gangs in nearby redlands & san bernardino & i try to stay out of those areas but my work sometimes is in those areas but only during the day.

What can we do to stop them?
