When my husband and I lived in L.A. we lived in Playa del Rey....couple of blocks from the beach...close to the airport...Marina del Rey...Santa Monica...Manhattan Beach. We LOVED it there. I can only say great things about living there....it was awesome!

What's your budget? This will determine where you can go. I can recommend plenty of safe, affordable (by L.A. standards) areas that are nice.

I don't know where you're working but that will get you into Pasadena, Eagle Rock, Glendale, Burbank, Studio City, Toluca Lake, Los Feliz and if you look for a bit South Pasadena. I don't know where you plan on working but all these areas have apartments in that range, you can even have a bedroom.

Safe and affordable? Try Idaho or Montanna.

Well, if I could go to Idaho and Montanna, I would ;-) And I'll post the question elsewhere. But ...
See, when I am checking [url=http://www.apartmenthunterz.com and compare the results with http://www.rent.com (thanks to t-town) - great price differences - 2/2 for 1500-1700 and at apartmenthunterz.com 2/2 minimum at 2000. So which one is right?
