I currently work as a real estate agent in NYC but am looking to move to California for family reasons. Does anyone know how to get into the real estate market from out of state? How is the market in LA? In Cali in general?

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

First of course you need to take and pass your test for be licensed here. You can get started on the prep online I believe. You would have to take your actual test somewhere in California. (sorry you probably already knew that but...). I can tell you that people are buying and selling real estate every single day. GREAT deals, great prices, great properties in all ranges. The $300,000 market is going gangbusters. The higher end, not as fast as say a couple years ago. There are tons of REOs, short sales and foreclosure properties but there are more and more conventional sales happening every day. I do alot of investment property and this is an amazing time for buyers with cash to get excelent deals with wonderful cash flos at purchase. I run a virtual brokerage, so no office, all internet and online with a flat monthly fee and excellent services. Its a small company and I intend it to stay that way so I can give real service. That's the next thing you should start investigating, what kind of company (and we have EVERY kind) you want to and need to work for that will serve you best.
