Hello, I was wondering if anyone who moved to LA (or lives in LA) had the dream of one career but chose a different career path? If so, what has been the good things that have come from it?

I really wanted a job in sports and I moved out to LA earlier this year because I got a job with the dodgers. It's a fun job and learning experience but I'm realizing that jobs in sports don't pay much. Before this job, I had a great job traveling and making salary. I'm now thinking twice and considering going back to what I was doing.

Changing careers at any age, everywhere, is becoming more common now. In a lot of ways it's very liberating to be able to change goals.

I don't think it's a "switch from pursuing their goal" as it is a realization that goals change. The dreams and goals you had at 20 may have fit the person you were then, but they don't necessarily fit the person you are now.
Off the top of my head, I can think of acquaintances in their late 40s who've changed careers from social worker to teacher, from accountant to actor, from teacher to librarian, from secretary to med student, and from actor to casting director. I even had a great-aunt who became an actor in her 80s after a long career conducting polls. Every single one of them was happier for it.
