My girlfriend and I have been trying for the past month to find a decent 1 bedroom apartment with a washer and dryer in the $1300 range. This requirement seems impossible since most places are charging $1450+ (northridge, encino, woodland hills, etc.)

I just found a 2 bedroom condo for rent (with W/D) for $1295! It is located in Valencia off of Valencia Blvd near the 5.

This is such an awesome deal, but my girlfriend and I will have to commute to the valley 4 times a week (2 days to CSUN and 2 days to Burbank). The good thing is that we will be commuting in the opposite direction of traffic. The bad is that it is still a 30 minute drive.

If any of you have done this commute first hand, feel free to post your experiences.

30 minutes is a pretty normal commute for the LA area. you'll also probably still hit some traffic no unless you'll be commuting at 2am. there is traffic in all directions all throughout the day in LA, so it's almost impossible to avoid it completely.

I just did the drive today at 4:00 PM. Only took me 17 minutes with no traffic to get to CSUN from Stevenson Ranch.

You will get the occasional days where there is excess traffic (day before holiday weekend, when it rains, car accident or wildfires partially closing freeway) and it will be pretty bad, but for the most part it is an easy commute. I work in Northridge and my wife went to CSUN. We used to live in SCV and made that same drive.

I'd say 20-30min is the norm, but I recall one time the wednesday leading into thanksgiving weekend took almost 3hrs to get home.
