I've noticed alot of people that leave California move to Colorado or Nashville. Is their any particular reason why?

I'd guess cost of living. Some people just don't think it's worth it.

the more people that leave for TN (where I'm from); the more room in LA for me in the Spring!

I second that, knox. I'm from Memphis(originally) which I love. I live in Charlotte, NC now and we're moving to LA late summer. Charlotte's so boring...what I don't understand is how almost everyone who lives here loves it. To me, it's a static, boring banking city that likes to act like it's more than it really is.

Sorry for the rant...

...Tennessee's a great state, though. I just like California more.

Cost is probably one of the biggest issues but there are more. You may not feel the same way so you'll just have to move there and see what you think!!

I am pretty sure that Colorado and Tennessee aren't even in the top five destinations for California . Looks like it is Arizona, Oregon, Nevada, Washington.
One reason Colorado may be a popular destination now and in the future is, with the exception of the entertainment industry, there is a lot of similar industries including financial services, aerospace, and biotech. Didn't Nissan LA move to Nashville?

I agree 100%. I grew up around Memphis(which I love a great deal) also. Nashville and Knoxville are extremely boring, slow, and close-minded. Besides that, the weather is terrible. I can understand the appeal for a family trying to save money from LA. Here you can buy a HUGE house in a great area for half a mil or less.

Being in my twenties, this is not the place to be.

I've lived in LA for 32 years and we are leaving for NC in a few months. I think the answers are semi-obvious to us... (We aren't going to CO or TN, but I thought I would give my 2 cents anyway)

1. Our money will go further there. We aren't looking to work for the film industry anymore... so if we can make 90% of what we're making here but spend 60% less on housing... it makes sense.
2 We aren't 20-something anymore so going somewhere quiet is a-okay with us.
3. Cleaner air
4. Less Traffic

In a nutshell... better way of life, but less entertaining. Huge house with jacuzzi tub, no Sunset Strip.

We also moved to NC this last year for the same reasons you have mentioned here. Love it!!!

In terms of the making 90%. Are you coming with a job? I've seen MANY people move to NC thinking that for some reason because they're from Cali/NY/NJ that they have a leg up on employment options. And then when the truth hits them that the general population of the triangle region or Charlotte is better educated than the general population of LA or much of NY/NJ it can be hard. The jobs don't flow like the Chamber of Commerce or the top 10 lists would lead you to believe. Just saying. I found LA to be an easy labor market to break into if you are articulate and trustworthy. Much more so than SF or even NC.
