What are some of your favorite locations? Any beach is nice, I feel like.

Hollywood Bowl puts on a nice show. Admission is about $5, I take the Hollywood Bowl bus and do not have to deal with parking.
Long Beach Vets stadium has a great show. Admission is about $2, they have several nice raffles there as well.
They used to have a great fireworks show in Lakewood that I did not even leave the house for, sat on the balcony and just looked up.

I think the Queen Mary still has fireworks on the fourth and every Friday and Saturday

El Segundo does it pretty big on the 4th with the whole traditional games, contests, cookoffs etc. They have an excellent fireworks display around 9pm or so at Recreation Park. If you're interested in having a place to sit, plan on schlepping over to the fields around 6AM Monday to lay out your tarps.

Personally, I think it will be a nightmare this year because so many cities have canceled their shows.

If you're heading that way, be forewarned that the El Segundo PD has already given notice that it will close off the city (westside residential area) if there is too much beach traffic using the city as a parking lot for the beach. I expect that from about Noon on the 4th until 7PM westbound Imperial Hwy will be backed up all the way to the 105 freeway.

Los Alamitos Joint Forces Training Base usually has an awesome free show. Don't know if they will this year due to budget concerns though

Dont know where you are so I cant say whats the best local to you, but my favorites are:

1. The Toluca Lake fireworks show.

2. Warner Center Park fireworks show.

Toluca lake is cool and was my favorite when I lived there for years, but really, the Warner Center show is HUUUGGGGGEEEE!!! The fact that I can walk there is a big plus.

I like the fireworks at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta. There are some rides for little kids, performers, and a good fireworks show.

Palisades High School in Pacific Palisades has a good show with music too, but they won't let you bring food in because they have new fake grass on the field.

Newport Beach and Disneyland have the best fireworks I've ever seen in So Cal.

Here's a list of fireworks in L.A.: Fireworks Shows in Los Angeles County (http://www.safejuly4th.org/fw/fwshows.htm - broken link)
