Okay, it looks like my son will be moving from the Midwest to the Topanga Canyon area. He will be working in Santa Monica and Westlake Village. He is in his early 30s. Where in the area will he meet unmarried, conservative Christian women?

The best bet is in church! Sorry, I couldn't help myself with this one.

Depending on denomination (if he has a preference), there are a lot of choices out there. The ones I'm familiar with are some of the larger churches in the San Fernando Valley, which is not too far from Topanga Canyon. I am not familiar with the churches on the south side of the hill. Here are a few in the valley:

The Church at Rocky Peak in Chatsworth
The Church on the Way in Van Nuys
Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch
Grace Community Church in Sun Valley

These are four of the large churches in the S.F. Valley, but there certainly are many others, but I can't think of them at the moment. I know at least a couple of these churches have singles groups that are (or at least used to be) fairly active. I think this would be a good place to start.

Yes, church.

Go to bars for drunks.
Go to church for Christians.
Art galleries for artists.

I would say if he is in his early 30's he will find the singles he wants. Time to let go.

You said your son was going to be in Westlake....then I would highly suggest Calvary Community Church. It boarders Westlake and Thousand Oaks. It is a very large church with lots of social clubs for singles.

I agree with Ferrettkona. Let your son find out for himself. He'll be fine.

We let go long long ago. He has been far away from home and on his own for 15 or so years! He even lived in England for awhile We are just gathering information. He is not anywhere near where I am. I read your responses to him when we talk on the phone.
As for denomination, he was born and raised conservative Lutheran but is more non-denominational now. He said to write that while not a member of Reformed-Baptist, his beliefs are close to that.

Then it seems the best church for him would be Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, whose senior pastor is John MacArthur. I like his teachings plus I read his Daily Bible. I think you mentioned in another post that your son is going to attend The Masters College, and they are affiliated with Grace Community Church, which is HUGE. He should have no problem finding single Christian women who share his beliefs at that church. If I lived in the San Fernando Valley, that would be the church I'd go to. My next choice in that area would be Shepherd of the Hills.

In your grocer's freezer? Or is that Kraft singles?

I can tell you that no matter where your friend goes, as the people above have said, he will certainly find a church. I live across the street from a Friends (Quaker) church and down the highway from a Mormon church, which itself is half a mile from a Lutheran church. He'll find somebody and some activities. Don't worry. If nothing else, I do have to concede that this is an area where you will find at least one of every type of person.
