just moved here. i produce music. i have not figured out where i fit in to play shows as a electronica/dubstep/industrial musician who also sings. keep in mind I AM NOT A DJ I AM A PRODUCER/MUSICIAN!!!! should i play live music bars? dj type clubs? goth clubs? the last city i lived in i tried all 3 but none felt right but it was also an amateur environment and there were no alternate options that had electronic producers doing shows. id love to hear there is a bar/venue that has nights where only electronic musicians can take the stage. what venues would tricky or prodigy, or atr, or aphex twin have gotten started around L.A.? the lyrics for the music are pretty aggressive/amazing although i havent recorded them yet. Goth clubs. Or maybe start your own club. Could start as a mobile underground one then go legit.

I cant believe how Dubstep started off in Croydon (i use to go to school in Croydon area. Complete sh*t hole.) to Los Angeles. It's becoming more popular. I personally prefer Grime and D&B but anyway.

I'm from the UK, I know this music very well as we have all the raves and festivals. Huge AFX fan here too. IDM is not popular in Los Angeles let alone America. There is a club in Santa Monica called 'Tripnotic Downtempo' and they play Bjork, Tricky, Massive Attack etc. This is their facbeook. Dennis Gomez is the owner. Talk to him, he's very cool.

Does Boardner's, in Hollywood, still do their goth night? You could try there.

Ohhhh love that place! They have a great 80's night "Blue Mondays", playing all the British 80's classics! <3

the thing about goth clubs is the ones ive been to only have music that plays at a certain tempo with that 1 type of beat. all my songs have different beats and none of them is the overly rediculously simple 'goth' beat or 'house' beat.

Yeah the Goth clubs I've been to tend to play lots of New Wave stuff like Killing Joke, Depeche Mode but then they'll mix it with a bit of Skinny Puppy.

I would not recommend Goth clubs. There always seems to be a bit of a pretentious vibe at those clubs like who can wear the most black.
