Does anyone know of a safe neighborhood in Southern California with large home property areas, reasonably close to the coast (so as to have mild temperatures). Not that I am necessarily looking for a big house, but just an area where the houses have a good amount of open land, big backyards, and you can't see your neighbors easily when you look our your window.

Someone mentioned to me Rancho Santa Fe, any others? Looking for something not quite so expensive, in the 1 million to 1.5 million range max.

I would also suggest checking with the San Diego Forum. How about researching Poway in San Diego County?

This is a 4bd/3.5 bth/4,164 sq.ft./ 1.5 million dollar home situated home on 4.27 acres with panoramic views:
14564 Cedar Ridge Ct, Poway, CA 92064 | MLS# 110038547

Maybe parts of the Silverado Canyon area?

There are also some parts of the Temecula area that may work as well(ever dwindling, though)

Parts of Nellie Gail Ranch in Laguna Hills could be good. Also, you might consider areas of Ventura County
