Took the Gold Line train from SW Museum to Union Station Friday night, then off to Pershing, then up the Flight to see Seun Kuti and Egypt 80. The place was packed, the band smokin', fantastic night! Lotsa people brought food, booze, no one out of control, Famima was open 'til 2am. The views from Bunker Hill are amazing. Easily one of the best deals in town (free) and a great location. Can't recommend it enough.

Live, where a sort of mini, more modern Times Square has sprung up in recent years. After that, I suppose, do as you wish. These are just be recommendations. And have fun!

Back from LA
Hello,
Two months ago i've posted this question : " Is downtown LA safe for tourists " ?
I'm now back from LA and we appreciated downtown very much, we like historic places such olvera street, LA plaza park, pic house but also bradbury building, angels flight, grand market, city hall and the public library.
During the day, downtown is very safe, no problem at all, we met some people helping us to find our way, very friendly.
As I wanted, i have also been to the top of the city hall, the 27h floor exactly, and the view was so incredible.... wooww, here are some pictures of tuesday 6th september.
LA was great, hot weather all week !

Downtown LA is fairly safe, although at night it does feel deserted/a little spooky. You probably don't want to hang out in the Financial District after dark, but places like Little Tokyo should be fine.

Again more dated information being posted.
Large number of restaurants and nightlife venues in the area.
Border Grill, Chaya, Library Bar, The Standard, etc, etc, etc.
Not to mention all the activity at the music venues as well as all the restaurants that have now opened on 7th between Figueroa and Olive.
Are you aware of the Pegasus lofts at 6th and Flower? Or the Roosevelt at 7th and Flower(Lamar Odom lives there during the NBA season)? The Milano at 6th/Grand? All of that drives pedestrian traffic in the financial district during the evening. It's only going to increase once Target opens in January at 7th/Fig.
