Does anyone have experience with the Official Police Garage impound auto auctions? There's a list of all the different impounds here: Auctions and* Lien Sales - Los Angeles Official Police Garages. I was thinking about checking out the Hollywood Tow Service or S & J Wilshire Tow auctions. I've been trying to find some information about how this process works and what kind of cars I might find there. Can you test drive or at least start them up? Trying to decide whether it's worth the time to check it out. Been looking on craigslist but there's so much crap on there it's hard to find anything good. Others have suggested that most of the cars might have been abandoned due to blown motor / tranny / some other serious problem. Thoughts?
