I'm looking to move to the Los Angeles area pretty soon. I recently went to check it out and really like Glendale. But I would like to have more options of areas to look. The only thing is that I won't have a car when I get out there. I'd like to move to a place like Glendale where you can walk or take a short bus ride to work. I am a server and need to live near a place with restaurants! Please give me any advice!!!!! Thank you

Jessa

Forget about coming here with no car.

Lots of restaurants in Glendale and nearby Burbank.

But Burbank is safer...almost anywhere you live in Burbank in clean, friendly and affordable for most people.

Glendale in more than twice as big..more crime..more congestion..but yes..I guess more restaurants.

Duarte or Monrovia? They aren't anywhere near Glendale, but they have restaurants and buses. Are those really the only requirements?

And don't worry about the car. Some people do get around by bus (and foot, and bike), and the area needs fewer cars, not more.

I agree about Duarte and Monrovia...nice places to live.

So is Glendora..so is San Dimas(both a bit farther out from Los Angeles)

But anyone with no car in L.A. will never learn the city..where is where..what is what..that can only be done by travelling the freeways...and cruising the side streets.

..and do you never wish to see anything but where you work at the other end of the busline?

This is not New York..you cannot cover much ground on foot...things are too spread out.

You can walk acroos Manhattan in a couple of hours.

You can't walk across L.A. in a couple of days.

Not everyone needs the same things. A lot can be done on foot, by bus, and by train. Exploring can be done with friends - and most people will have at least one friend who drives. There probably is already at least one thread about whether or not you need a car in the Los Angeles area. OP didn't even ask about it.

Anything North of Glenoaks is considered the best in Burbank and Glendale. Stick to that area and you will love it.
