I'm trying to find out where in Lancaster/Palmdale there are area's that have no section 8. Rented I nice home in a neighborhood that was nice. Within 6 months the whole nationhood went section 8. I can’t stand it anymore. Trash everywhere, parties, traffic in and out. Drug dealing, its crazy! Called the cops, sent in email to them, just asked to patrol once in a while. Need to get out of here. Where in the area of Antelope Valley has no section 8. Anyone please let me know how you find out.

Thanks
Kev

Try anywhere in West Palmdale or West Lancaster. Not sure where you live in the AV. The Antelope Valley College area is a nice neighborhood with well kept homes and crime is low. I moved to West Lancaster from West Palmdale 3 years ago and have yet to have any problems whatsoever with crime. I greatly prefer West Lancaster to anywhere in Palmdale but that is a personal preference. Drive around 30th Street West in Lancaster between Avenue L and Avenue I, between Avenue K to Lancaster Blvd in particular. Lots of newer homes but the older established neighborhoods can be really nice. I have lived in the AV for 17 years now, both in West Palmdale and West Lancaster. I have never had a problem with Section 8 renters in my neighborhood. If they were there, I never noticed them. I now live in West Lancaster and, again, if there are Section 8 renters here I do not know about them because there are no problems. Not all Section 8 renters are bad of course but the majority do seem to have problems with drug dealing, drug use and will bring a neighborhood down to its knees if there are enough of them gang banging. IMO, stay WEST of the freeway both in Palmdale and Lancaster. Property values drop and people problems increase once you hit the east side. This has been true for as long as I have lived here. An increased police presence has caused crime to drop overall considerably.

Try some of the older, more established neighborhoods west of the 14 Freeway. Something I have noticed about Section 8 people is that they generally don't like older homes built before the 1990s. Many of them have a "ghetto wealthy" mentality where they want everything brand new (i.e. brand new Escalade, new rims, new shoes, new house, new neighborhood) as to prove to others that they have everything new because in their mind "new=better!" , so stay away from new housing developments where there are lots of empty homes!

Look for housing developments built in the 1970s and 1980s, especially in the area around 20th Street West and Avenue L down to 20th Street West and Avenue K-8, it seems like a decent area of older homes where the owners have maintained it and kept it clean.

Out-of-Palmdale is also correct about the areas around Antelope Valley College -- beautiful older homes with some newer tracts mixed in. There's almost no crime there whatsoever. The Los Angeles Sheriffs Dept. maintains a training academy on the campus of the college, so that is also a plus because there are LASD cars patrolling the campus and the immediately adjacent neighborhoods.

Section 8 housing have ruined the value of many areas in the High Desert. Why should anyone buy when your investment can be ruined overnight by the loons in Sacramento. Hell, I cant wait to leave this place!

Hmm... That might explain the abundance of mentally ill people loitering around downtown Sactown.

And sadly it looks like most of them will be there for another 4 years.
