Destruction of LA by earthquake coming soon!

Well, ...since the earth, kinda by definition, works on geological time frames, "soon" could be anything from in the next few seconds, to the next hundred thousand years.

More like (IMO) the next few seconds to a dozen years or a few decades.

Why not just call them an idiot without taking the opportunity to launch a completely unwarranted attack on another part of the country or religious group?

Don't feed the trolls.

Maybe someone can shed some light on this issue...because it always has me wondering.

Scientists are now saying the San Andreas (southern segment) has large quakes MORE OFTEN then previousy thought, something along the lines of, on average, every 150 years. It has been 300 years since the last quake on that segment.

Something doesn't add up. Why would that segment be SOOO overdue? Is it possible that the southern segment's energy is being released on parallel or adjacent fault lines? Think Hector Mine, Landers and Baja quakes, all near 7, all nearby. It would seem like the over due quake on this segment should have ocurred many, many years ago...

I am sure I am wrong or else there wouldn't be all this preparation, investigation and concern...but it makes you think...if this big quake on this segment is overdue by 150 years, what makes them think that is is almost a certainty it will happen within the next 30? Why not another 150 or more years?
