Hi everyone! My fiance and I are moving to LA in a couple weeks for a job and have decided to buy instead of rent. He will be working in Santa Monica but is willing to do a bit of a commute to be in a house we love. We found a beautiful house in Windsor Village - near Hancock Park - and I would love to hear anyone's experience with that area. I absolutely love the architecture around there, and the history of the houses is so cool. However, when I do a search to find bars, restaurants, coffee shops, gyms, grocery stores within walking distance I don't find much.
Does anyone live in this area or have experience with it? Do you enjoy it? We would love to have some fun stuff to do around us and I would appreciate anyone's thoughts about the area. Good place to buy? Think the area is improving/might appreciate if the economy ever gets back on its feet?

Our other options are to buy a townhome in Marina del Rey or a house in Westchester. We are nervous about losing money on a townhome if we grow out of it in a few years, and we don't love Westchester - though it is quite convenient, and we can afford a nice updated house there. What do you think?

Thanks so much everyone! We have offers out and hopefully will be going into escrow soon on our property of choice!
