I live in Valley Village which is part of rent control for Los Angeles. Recently, a friend was evicted from my apartment complex for non-payment of rent. She has been visiting friends at the complex. The apartment complex on-site manager has told one of the current tenants that she will evict her if she allows the person to visit. Is this legal? She has been singled out with the threat of eviction even though several tenants (including myself) have had her over as our guest. Thanks in advance for any legal remedy as the tenant.

The manager can only call the police if they have a problem.

she can come & go as long as she is a guest of a resident of the complex. However you don't want to push your luck and have mgmnt find a reason to terminate her friend's lease.
