I must be in the minority when it comes to weather preference. I have lived in So. Cal. for over forty years and my favorite time of year has always been the fall. Hated and still hate summer heat. Just heat sensitive I guess. After moving to the East Coast and really experiencing "weather" I realized that I loved the unexpected nature of East Coast weather. You never knew what you would get one moment to the next and I loved it. It was like what Mark Twain said that if you didn't like New England's weather just wait five minutes! After moving back to Ca. I realized that I missed the unpredictability of NE and was bored and depressed by the sameness of Ca. sunshine, day in and day out. It was like Grounhog's Day every day. I realize I am probably the exception to the rule in this regard but now that it has reached 112 I find I am really missing a good NorEaster right about now.

Oh my God, I thought I was the only one that longed for less than stellar weather! LOL! Wonderful to know I'm not alone.

Yeah, it's sunshine EVERYDAY, ALL DAY here and I'm one of the few people that actually LOVES when it's foggy in the morning. I also love the Santa Ana winds because of the fabulous breeze that comes with it. My allergies go crazy, but that's what Claritin is for. LOL!

I miss rainy days, the cold and snow. Yes, I said it - the SNOW. The only thing I hate is humidity (which is why I will never move to Florida), but it's only for a couple of months before fall season begins again.

I'm completely with you on that Marilyn. I would give anything for "Storm Watch" weather for a change. It is so funny when you compare weather forecasts from the west to the east. People from the east would die laughing hearing what weather people consider "Storm Watch" weather, meaning it may be drizzling so wear your parkas and Uggs! Moving back to NE as soon as possible, hopefully before winter. And you?

OMG...I shouldn't piggyback here since I know the thread is about the good things about LA, but can I tell you girls, who's the dork who just sat here and played her
"thunderstorm" video on YouTube? Uh, yeah, that'd be me...This is in my Favorites, of course. Before any SoCal people get miffed at me...don't worry, there's no accounting for taste, I have Duran Duran in there too.

Thanks, I needed that. Think I'll have a ciggie.

I'm leaving in mid-September. Well, I'll start sending my important stuff back home and probably be out of here by the end of September.

LA is not for me. I need to get back to some semblance of realness.

Although, I have heard that San Francisco has a more east coast feel about things.

Makes no difference to us. There are plenty of people in line waiting for a spot. Yours was just taken.

I know. LA is a never ending transient city.

100,000 people could come today, but in six months to a year half of them will be on their way back to wherever they came from.

The other half will continue to strive along hoping and praying circumstances will get better and stay another couple of years. After awhile most of them will pack it in and go back to wherever they came from.

Even the illegals are only staying in Cali until they can make enough money to expand to other less expensive parts of the country.

Your homeless situation is beyond crazy. It seems like there are MILLIONS of drug addicts here too. Being from NYC, I'm no stranger to homelessness and junkies, but sheesh! You can't spin around without someone trying to get a handout (even in Beverly Hills).

It takes a certain mindset to live in Los Angeles and FORTUNATELY, I don't have it.

The circumstances ARE improving. You haven't been here long enough to know what it was like say, 10 years ago. You don't have to like Los Angeles - you're entitled to your own opinion. But just because you don't like it doesn't mean others won't. I know a lot of TRANSPLANTS like yourself that are very happy here. Don't let the other people here fool you into thinking that. Just thought you should know. Anyways, whatever floats your boat...good luck with finding wherever it is you are happy.
