Do you think Laurel Canyon is a dangerous road?

I thought it was much scarier getting through intersections in Weho than driving through Laurel Canyon, but I'm not used to driving in LA.

Locals know the road and are upset with the slow-poke flatlanders who are keeping them from their 6am conference call to NY.

If they make you nervous pull over.

Unless "dangerous" is defined, then there is no Yes or No answer to that question.

There is no place to pull over, its a narrow, marrow one way road. You would need to turn in another road to get rid of a tailgator and then it will be hell to navigate your way out. Btw, most of the drivers are tailgators anyways there so it doesn't make sense to go out of my way to avoid one.

I am not driving slow, just the speed limit. I swear I see people going like 45-50 mph on crazy turns; everyone is in a hurry.

I have driven it during rush hour and it still goes fast. At times it's slow and everyone stops but as soon as there is a gap it seems like everyone guns for it and speeds and there will be like a huge gap between me and the car in front of me until the next light and then it will repeat again. I kind of like a lot of traffic there because it makes everyone slow down.

The other thing is, if that was one of your first drives on that road, then you were probably driving slower than someone who drives it daily. I know I drive slow on unfamiliar roads. Once I get used to a road and it's intersections, curves, traffic patterns, etc then I (and probably you) will drive about like most others.

Well, that is true actually. It was my third time driving it but it takes me a long time to get used to it. I used to not like the roads in Lake Forest either (nothing like Laurel Canyon though) but then I got used to it since I had to drive them every day.

What's your point? Are you seeking a safer alternative? The roads have always been winding and crowded, even when I was growing up in the area (a long time ago). Coldwater Canyon and others seemed just as bad.

I did like the film "Laurel Canyon." A little offbeat. Quite a different role for Frances McDermott (sp?) than "Fargo."

I'm not seeking an alternative; I already know the 101 is an alternative. My point was to express myself and make statement and just to hear people's opinion. I don't have much of a point, I am not trying to "make a point". There is no point. Only my observation. That is all.

I can imagine it's hell if there is a car accident because there is no way to pass at all since there is only 1 lane each way....
