the area is surrounded by some big public housing projects (gonzaque, j.downs) as well as some nicer big housing complexes (watts arms). the area is dense. lots of people. crowded streets. parking isnt alwasy easy. the crime is not as bad as it once was. its still not sentirely safe. a lot of people surround the area, mostly around the train station. lots of people come and go without incident. you just have to be mindful of your surroundings. i visit friends in the area without problems. some stuff will get your heart pumping (groups of young men hanging out). but thats natural. be aware and smart and you should be fine. of course, things do happen. things happen every where as a matter of fact.
