Why are you moving to California?
Will you be working? Where?

Is there any reason why you are moving from Chicago to California with a section 8 voucher?

I would imagine even with a section 8 voucher it would difficult to find a place you can afford.

Most of the affordable areas of SoCal are out in the inland empire of San Bernardino and Riverside counties.

Why not stay within the midwest closer to Chicago where you might have family?

The section 8 voucher is not going to be that much of a shield against the COL. What else do you having going for you, Savings, family, job??

Don't move here now.. Come back in another 5-10yrs when you have the cash..

But out of preference i would choose Los Angeles over San Diego, as there is more of everything in LA..

This.

Main question - Why? Why would you move to one of (if not the) most expensive states in the country, if you cannot fully support yourself?
