OK, Ill try not to turn this into a food war. I post here for people who live in Northern Orange County. A friend of mine, who I lost contact with picked up'' some great tamales. Heres the deal. The place was in Whittier or on Whittier bl. He would preorder home made tamales from a small place. He would pick them up in a small paper bag. Of course, he would never tell me the name of the place. The old fart. Anybody have an idea?

i strongly suspect that your friend got his tamales from either mary's tortilleria or la moderna bakery:

Do you know that your friend got them from a "brick and mortar place" or was it from a roving vendor?

Hot Tamales are great! You can get them at your local corner store.

Try hitting up Uptown or westside. You will have NO trouble finding tamales.

Actually, any section of the city will have restaurants serving tamales, whether your José Average greasy-spoon or your sit-down Don Juan places.
