Anyone else find it ironic that a German guy who "hates America" got caught by an Iranian-born reserve officer? (Since Germany is our friend & Iran the "enemy")

Kudos to Officer Lalezary.

Apparently the suspect's mother is Russian.

The persians I know in LA are proud of their culture but HATE the Iranian government.

My only regret in the arrest of this crazy SOB is that he wasn't caught by some hollywood residents BEFORE the cops got to him.

I generally don't believe in an eye for an eye type of justice but in a case like this I would like to see what some local community members would have done to this SOB. Turpentine + matches = German filet mignon.

Richard Ramirez got chased down and 'administered to' by L.A. citizens before the cops got hold of him. That could have (should have?) gone a lot worse for him than it did.

Seriously. I worked with a bunch of Iranians when I sold cars during college, and they hated the Iranian government with such a fervent passion... most of them were guys who were well-educated, whose families had businesses in Iran that were screwed over because of the Islamic revolution; either because they were Jewish, Christian, Muslim but deemed "too secular," or their political and social beliefs clashed with those of the government. Most of them were quite patriotic when it came to the US, and were one of the few immigrant groups, on the whole, who would refer to themselves as Americans in coversation; while many friends I've known who are immigrants but naturalized will say "you" when referring to Americans as a whole, nearly all the Iranians I knew would say "us" or "we."

Who can forget that morning? Ramirez, while on the run, pushed a woman and tried to steal a car. Before realising he might be the Night Stalker a group of men from the neighborhood chased him down. After ID'ing Ramirez by his bad teeth the good citizens of East L.A. proceeded to beat the tar out of him.

One of East L.A.'s finest hours.

An arson expert said that most of these weirdos act alone. Also, there were no outbreaks of fire last night.

It's the lone wolves that will always be the biggest scare to any country, as they have a way of flying under the radar screens of the police departments, CIA and FBI.

One person could very easily have carried this out. You set one fire, all are racing to that site, set another, then they race to that site, and the perpetrator is laughing his head off, as he walks down the street setting yet another one. This guy was far from stupid, he knew the consequences after the first car he set on fire, how easy it would be to do the rest of them.

What surprises me about reading of this, is that this wasn't more hush-hushed by the media, as something like this could very easily lead to copycats doing this in other parts of the city or country.

Remember some time back, that left-wing Environmental group, torching those big gas guzzlers at car dealerships? For a minute, I thought this was a resurrection of that group, merely targeting gas guzzlers.
