We are planning a trip to LA Jan. 19-23 to go to market.

If you have been before, what advice do you have? This will be our first time.

Also, where would you suggest we stay? We don't want anything terribly expensive but a good, clean hotel that is near by the California Market Center and other attractions.

I would suggest staying downtown. The Westin Bonaventure and the Biltmore might not be too bad... Many of the hotels run specials so you might see if you can find one of those.

The Cecil Hotel is closest. Don't stay there.

I agree with JohnG72...stay away from the Cecil.

Sheraton Los Angeles Downtown Hotel - Downtown - Los Angeles, CA

The Sheraton at Hope & 7th is somewhat outdated but clean rooms and in a safe location.
