Went to LA as expected in the middle of January, and felt pretty safe in the whole west LA area as hollywood, west hollywood, noho, calabasas, venice and etc, also it was fine in Anaheim and surrounding areas,
I didnt like Downtown LA and didnt feel safe out there, at the day-time its feels like little Mexico (spanish Harlem), at the night its crawling with homeless people, whom i dont consider friendly people (there is a big difference between homeless in NY and LA),
So anyways, thanks everyone who had given me advices on this thread!

Typically refers to the San Fernando Valley, although there are probably unsafe parts of both.

Yikes. Well, I could see the analogy for Broadway I guess (Hispanic), and homeless (Broadway, Skid Row), but it sounds like you didn't get to other parts of d-town that have a much more diverse set of inhabitants. Regardless, thanks for following up on your trip. Alot of posters ask questions before visiting and we never hear back from them regarding their visit. Oh yeah, those people are defined as trolls. Ha.

Most places are fine. Compton, not so much. Skid Row, not so much. I don't really go to Boyle Heights. Besides that, it's all good. Where you will be is nice, hip, and near lots of good restaurants.

Personally I think Hollywood is sketchy. Lots of bums and homeless people around there. Went to Roro's Chicken around Cherokee and Sunset and lots of shady looking people; by that I mean homeless, bums, gangsta types and more lower-income looking. West Hollywood is much better.

Weak sauce. DTLA danger is nothing compared to the Crip/Blood days. Not very scary at all, unless one is in the habit of intentionally pissing off rudeboys and homeless people.
