Been offered an opportunity to relocate to the Long Beach area from Northern Virginia area. Recently divorced white heterosexual 47 year old male with no kids. Thinking of selling the house and heading West. Have a good salary and eventhough I would take a loss on the sale of my house, Im thinking of making the move.

Love the outdoors (cycling) and the beach. Also enjoy knocking down beers at the local pub. Lived in the DC area my entire life so I'll be leaving friends, but, Im pretty outgoing so Im sure Ill have no problem making new ones.

Interested in an area with a vibrant nightlife with primarily other working professionals

Focusing on the Belmont Shores, Nassau, Seal Beach, Sunset beach or possibly the South Bay Beach cities (Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan). Looking to rent a 1 Bedroom <$2000/mth. Advice, opinions, suggestions appreciated ?

the south bay cities are great, but i'd live closer to work. you'll also find great cycling in/around the nearby PV peninsula. lots of cycling groups all over the LA/OC area. belmont shore seems like a good place to start. the crowd can be young, but i wouldn't say there are any nightlife hubs in the region that cater specifically to the single, middle-aged crowd.
