Hi! In a couple days I'll be arriving at Burbank Airport and I want to take the city bus to Santa Monica - I understand it takes a long time but that doesn't really matter to me. I am concerned about safety though - the bus route has me making a connection in downtown LA (Venice and Grand) where I'd be for at least 20 minutes. I am a 22 year old male traveling alone, and I'd likely be taking the bus between about 6 and 8 pm.

Does this sound like a stupid idea? Should I just pay for supershuttle or primetime shuttle instead?

Thanks!

Just a thought, but you may want to take the Metrolink train from Burbank Airport Station to Union Station, and then catch the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus (Rapid #10 line) from Union Station to Santa Monica.

In terms of safety, I don't think it's an issue either way you go.

If I were to go from Burbank to SM, I would take the shuttle or bus from airport to the Metro Red Line and get off at vermont/wilshire station and take the 720 Metro bus to SM where you can catch the big blue bus anywhere in SM. travel time probably 1.5 hours. costs. $5 or $3

I only say this route because I know that route is frequent at night, heavily traveled with people, so you should feel safer. other option is metrolink to DT and big blue bus from Union Station or along its route or red line to wilshire/vermont.
