In a way you are totally right. The problem is STUPID AND WAR CRIMINAL GEORGE BU$$H!!

Just look at our economy? Just look at all the wasted blood and money in Iraq. For what? , yet many folks in here cant have medical health care. Just look at how low the $ is compare to the Euro.

The USA has become the laughing stock of all the industrialized nations. I traveled across Europe for the past 4 yrs to places like Spain, Italy, France, England, Germany etc and their way of lives is way ahead of ours and with a lot more freedom than us. In places like Italy, Spain and Frances I hardly saw any homeless, or fat folks. They also have wonderful and moderm mass transporation. I remember a Spanish train that took me from Barcelona to SEville faster than almost a plane. The train was Spanish built and so fancy that Amtrak would look like a T-Ford Model.
All I kept thinking is how healthy and fit looking those white Europe folks were. I also didnt see that many immigrants like in the USA.

Since 911 our economic and nation is a lot worse than before Bush came to power!! In less than 5 yrs he has also killed more Iraquis than Sadam ever did in over 40 yrs.

This is a third world country compared to downunder-crumbling infrastructure and a government that shuns it's people. You will not find loyal friends in Los Angeles like you have enjoyed in Australia.
Los Angeles WAS a fantastic place in the 90's with cheap living and the $$$$ flowed thick and fast, not any more.
Americans have become resentful, nasty, scared and bitter after September 11, and even told me, a blonded green eyed Aussie gal to, " Go back to where I came from". So 30 days from now I am.
All I am saying is be careful. The hospital system is broke, you DO not want to get sick here. The beaches are foul, and you will see homeless people everywhere, unlike Australia where our government actually cares about poverty.
California is painfully beautiful, but on a wage less than $100 k do not expect to have any quality of life. Oh and I am going home with severe lung problems from breathing the filthy air, it is vile compared to Australia's fresh air.
Sorry to put you off, and I am sure the overly sensitive Angeleno's may take offense to this post, but you know us Aussies- we tell it like it is. There is a reason Russel Crowe shuns Hollywood and lives downunder you know.

Isn't the real problem that we dont demand a better quality of life from our government?

why is it that we send billions in aid to other countries yet we can't fund
a mass transit system to link the entire country?

If we truly demanded it, we would get it.

OP Studio City is one of the best areas to live, and it is anchored by NBC Universal on one end and CBS TV on the other. Sherman Oaks and Encino are also very nice. it is possible to just take the bus along Ventura Blvd to work. As other have mentioned Calabasas is very nice. If you surf Woodland Hills would be OK, as it is close to the canyon roads that take you to the beach. Woodland Hills is also micro-climate, and hold the record for LA County at 119 °F (48 °C), so in the summer it is beyond hot. Think north of Perth in December desert hot.

In Woodland Hills proper Gasolina Cafe serves great Spanish food. Asanebo is my fave for sushi, and you can find pretty girls as it is right near CBS, Granville is also nice.

Here is you new neighbor Megan Fox in Studio City.

The LA problems that you mentioned mainly affect the latino and black populations. Asians, for example, have it much better (e.g. you'll never see an Asian homeless person). Asians in LA have higher quality of life than whites in OZ, that's for sure. Also, if you are into hispanic culture/food, you'll not going to find any of that in OZ. Major cities in OZ such as sydney are also very $$$, perhaps even more than LA, and they also have their fair share of problems with traffic, pollution, etc.

I guess the dumb blonde stereotype extends to Aussies as well lol
