In my first post I asked this question:

"So just as a matter of curiosity, how may L.A. residents, although not perfect 100% of the time, at least try to observe all laws in public and not be inconsiderate or endanger others?"

So I'm guessing, by the lack of response, I'm one of the last gentlemen left in this city?

Yep, all else are but unwashed heathens fouling at the base of all that is graceful and dignified. Whom shall save us from our debased petulance?

I try. Except for when I can't find a public restroom.

Takes 'patrician' to a whole new level. If I at least 'try' to be a good citizen, do I stand half a chance at redemption and a respectable place in society?

Whatta larf.

20 mph over the speed limit is more than barely an infraction. Yes, I noticed this culture of lawlessness in L.A. yesterday, particularly in regard to traffic laws. I had 300 bucks stolen from me in NoHo at the ATM when I left my card in the machine for less than 90 seconds. Also people using the carpool lane on the 10, some idiot not signaling for lane changes on Venice Blvd. nearly causing two accidents, etc. Some people just seem to have an "I'll get away with it, they can't enforce all these laws in this big city" mentality. I wonder if the people who break the traffic laws are the same ones who mock the public transportation propositions.

LA attracts self-centered people. People who think they are their own God, or do a lot of drugs which give the perception that they have bulletproof confidence. Naturally the average person will act as if laws do not apply to them. It's just the sad reality of this place.

Right, and everyone who lives outside Los Angeles tows the line. It's the 'sad reality' of, well, just about anywhere.

California enacted 745 new laws in 2011, 725 new laws in 2010, and 696 new laws in 2009. According to the OP - one is not a gentleman if they are not aware of and do not obey all 2,146 of those laws that were created just in the last 3 years on top of all the other laws on the book from previous years plus City of Los Angeles ordinances!

It is time for a part time leglislature.

Los Angeles in a crowded place and such sights are common. Though citizens need to be more responsible towards society and follow the rules and regulations religiously. Social etiquettes are ignored in the hustle bustle of the LA life. If we are aware of what mistakes we do, and teach our family the same, we can avoid causing inconvinience to others.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse...or so I'm told. You're right, It's one new law after another, most of them "feel good" laws that don't accomplish a thing.
