I'm a 25 year old female and I currently live in Florida. I plan on moving to California in about 8 months. I dont know anyone who lives out there so I'm kind of clueles while researching online. I will be moving out there by myself so I am very concerned with finding a neighborhood that is safe. I'm worried about gangs, I dont want to sound ignorant but the only thing I know about California is what I see in movies and hear in music. My fav color is red so will I get killed for wearing it?! Also I need to find either a one bedroom or a studio apartment that is between $600 - $800 a month. Please help! I need a safe place to live that is also within my budget.

im kinda curious why youre moving out here/there if you have that sort of mindset about LA. your expectations arent realistic. and no you wont die wearing red.

I've seen some studios in Long Beach for $650, I even went to look at one a few months ago when I was searching for a place. The place was a shoe box and the area was pretty bad. Also, there was no assigned parking only street parking.

$600 - $800 is doable if you are willing to have roomates. Is there a particular reason why you are moving to LA from the Florida? The cost of living is drastically different.
