I'm looking for an apartment (1bed/1bath) that does month-to-month or 6 month lease with month-month after that. My budget is approx $1100/month and I have a cat. Does anyone have a suggestion for a company or private manager who does this? I am looking for around Culver City, West LA, or Sherman Oaks area.

$1,100 is low for a 1 bedroom apartment, but not impossible. Harder with a cat and even harder with an initial month-to-month (or even 6 month) lease. Sherman Oaks MAY be your best bet, but it is a trek from W.LA during rushour.

Where are you working?

westsiderentals is the best resource, but its not free. Many people say to try craigslist, but I think there are a lot of scams and unrealistic pricing there.

check out the palms neighborhood around the intersection of palms/overland. 1100 may get you an older 1br, but most likely a studio.
