Sorry, that is a myth. The team is just sad.
But we love them like our own failed children. While the Lakers are our successful children.

Yet another piece of evidence for the "Nor Cal/So Cal rivalry is one-sided" camp.

It would never occur to me to slam the Giants or A's in the Bay Area fora. They're just not on my radar, except for when my Angels are kicking orange and black ass in the WS, of course.

You are the only chump in this thread to use the words, "one of the most storied franchises" in baseball.

You ever hear of Jackie Robinson?

Total Number of World Series Championships:
Dodgers: 6
Giants: 6
[Tied for 2nd most in the Ntl League behind St Louis]

Dodgers: 10 Cy Young Awards (8 pitchers), most in MLB history.

That is not a bad history/legacy......

A common misconception is that LA is not a family or business friendly city and that most inhabitants stick to themselves.

That sums it up the best:

4 million people in L.A., 10 million in the county, and every one of them work in The Industry and exhibit Industry characteristics.

Yep.

Los Angeles has so much culture oozing from it that it's nearly impossible to define.
From old Hollywood (which, despite stereotypes, is endlessly interesting) and all of the people who still live in the shadow of it's past, to Hispanic culture (which is probably most influential), to Asian culture of all types, black culture, a vital core of music, to growing independent artists and filmmakers, ...and on and on and on. Even the very large homeless population has in it many creative and fascinating people.
Any city with a place like "The Museum of Jurassic Technology" is the antithesis of vapid in my book. I know that Werner Herzog would agree with me.
So, in the end, the stereotype is complete nonsense, fueled by ignorance and/or resentment. Ironically, it's probably Hollywood itself that's primarily to blame for this stupid stereotype, with the obsession of one percent of the population and how they live taking precedence over the rest of the population of the city, which, really, is much more interesting.
+ rep for truth. I read an article in the L.A. Weekly last year that talks about how many plays do "test runs" in L.A. before going on Broadway but this is kept quiet because New Yorkers would shun the plays if they knew that they originated in L.A.

So if such a production dropped the curtain and informed the NY audience of it's origin, would they demand a refund? Or just loudly curse Joe Pesci-style?

The proper local theater etiquette is: stand; pull firmly at one's groin; pronounce "I've got your proscenium right here", and; calmly exit the theater.

Smoking is off-limits everywhere in L.A. now!

Not true! On a recent visit, at 4am, when there was no traffic, I smoked openly right in the middle of the street in front of my non-smoking hotel, 40 feet from the entrance, and no ticket!
