Like you said, the Westside begins at the 405 or La Cienega (I say La Cienga because IMO WeHo is pretty westside-ish)
I agree.

La Cienega is usually my "dividing line" between West and Central L.A. since WeHo (although it straddles La Cienega), Beverly Hills, Century City, Westwood, Cheviot Hills, etc. are all "west side-y".

And then East L.A. is basically (to me) anything east of I-5.

Beverly Hills straddles La Cienega also.

East LA is east of the river. Atwater Village is on the other side of the river and is usually considered Northeast LA. Atwater has had its ups and downs through the years including very severe problems with street drug sales and gang problems but is now a pretty nice area.

Los Feliz may culturally resemble the West Side but it's definitely Central L.A. The 405 runs through the middle of the West Side and is not its border.

+1.

Westwood, Rancho Park, Palms, Century City... all West LA to me.

I can't imagine anyone from Los Feliz would say they are from West LA.

I live in Los Feliz and do not consider it to be on the "westside" or part of "West LA". Its quite nice which is true of multiple "westside" neighborhoods, but that doesn't make it part of that area.
