No kidding. Harrier had better stay in LA. Even here in OC the apartments come with appliances. If one wants to live in a refrigerator free apartment they have the option of living under the freeway overpass. Not only are fridges standard outside of LA but more and more places also include microwaves, stoves, dishwashers and even washers and dryers.

If an apartment is too cheap to provide a fridge what else are they skimping out on?

Mine provided it.

Very few landlords provide refrigerators here. I have no idea why, but that's how it is. No apartment I've ever rented has had one, and I've lived in L.A. County my entire life. Whether or not a refrigerator is provided is zero indication of a landlord being good or bad. I'd pay more attention to how well the apartment was cleaned, what the exterior looks like, etc.

You need to get out more

But you're right.

I'm in an apartment right now, temporarily, and of course being out in the non-LA world, it has a refrigerator.

But that other thread has me thinking about what kind of past this refrigerator of mine has.

I may just go out to eat all my meals since I'll be here for only a few months more.

I don't understand why it's such a big issue. If you want a place with a fridge then find one. I personally do not mind. I live in a really nice apartment that came with no fridge. I take it with me from place to place like I do all my other furniture (bed, couches, dressers, etc...). I'm a bit of a germ-o-phobe and don't like using someone elses fridge. They can get a bit nasty.

Yes, especially if they're asking for anything over $800 a month.

This is the only place that I know of that does that. It's called being CHEAP and trying to GET OVER and THIRD WORLD which is what LA is, but most people won't know that until they actually LIVE here.

Or how about $1800-2000 a month for a 1BR apartment with street parking in Santa Monica? But I digress.

Yeah, or just buy one because they are not that expensive. Particularly, you can find some good deals on the smaller fridges.

I've never lived in a place without a fridge but I could see why somebody would choose to.

If you happen upon one that also includes running water and a toilet, you've hit the jackpot.

Not a concern in other parts of the state.
