Hi everyone, I have a Job opportunity in La Mirada, CA. and I would like to know how is to live there. I'm moving with my family (2 kids, a boy 5 y/o and a baby girl of 1 y/o). How are crime rate/schools in the area? Does it have parks/green areas? also we are looking catholic parish nearby.

Any advice on neighborhood/prices for rental will be welcome.

Thanks in advance.
Mauro.

You might want to have this moved to the Los Angeles subforum. Could get more replies from people familiar with it.

It's a nice little city on the border of LA/OC counties.

Crime index is showing quite low.

I do know that it borders Norwalk, and Norwalk can get a bit hairy with gang violence. I can't help you with parishes and schools or greens, but I would not hesitate to live in La Mirada. Only thing is I'd move a bit closer to a major freeway. If you live in La Mirada near La Habra, it's a pain just to get to the freeway.

La Mirada suffers from its I-5 freeway frontage.

You don't find out that it's a quite nice suburban community until you actually get off the freeway and drive into the neighborhoods.

It's a great little area for families, especially around Biola University and the golf course.

La Mirada is a nice community with great schools most are distingushed or blue ribbon schools. Crime is low and always has been. La Mirada has many parks also has a nice family water park. There would be plenty of housing in your price range. Most of La Mirada does not face the I-5 there are commercial properties that face the I-5
