As a fan of bands such as X, The Gun Club and TSOL I was wondering what the current scene in LA is for Punk/Post-Punk/Deathrock music?

What kind of job would Jeffrey Lee be doing if he was still alive?

Do many of the 80's acts still live in the LA area and gig regularly?

What do most of the 80's people in these scene's do for a living if still in LA?

Just curious... I'm in Missouri and bored...

Well, hardcore(and all its subgenres) has roots in punk and thrived for the past decade in the LA/OC area. Deathrock? Never heard of a deathrock band, but there is certainly some deathmetal.

Xene Cervenka, the female vocalist of X, actually lived in Missouri for a few years around 2008/2009. I think she moved back to LA. But here is an interview she did where she discusses her time in Missouri.

I have seen TSOL and X both very recently.

If still alive, Jeffrey Lee would be doing the occasional trainwreck gig here and there.

80's people either work the same kinds of jobs everyone else does, or live off girlfriends/parents while performing for drink tickets, or a paycheck if they are at that level.

Yes X is on tour.

There are clubs that have applicable themed nights (although maybe not quite at the TSOL extremes in all cases).

Missing the pit with Suicidal Tendencies blasting away ... I still have all my teeth! Call me a survivor, LOL.

They're not done yet.

Neither are Slayer...on the Mayhem Tour again this year, with Motorhead and Anthrax.
