Whenever I visit LA at this time (May/June), I always detect this unique floral scent when I'm outside, whether it be at LAX, Manhattan Beach, or up in Westwood. I've been noticing it for years.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It's like a very strong sweet smell that I only smell when I'm outdoors in LA, and only in May/June. If so, does anyone know what flower/shrub it comes from?

Honeysuckle?

Next to Runyon Canyon Park there is a planter with a ton of honeysuckle plants and the sweet smell is almost overwhelming when I walk past it.

Jasmine. Near the beaches you smell it mixed with suntan lotion.

This. Not limited to LA either, pretty much normal in many places in CA.

Bet this is it. Stuff is used in commercial landscaping all over California. At least its not as obnoxious smelling as those damned privets used for hedges.

Ditto. It is almost impossible to go anywhere on the Westside and not see those little white flowers.
