My fiance and I are going to be moving to LA in September. We've only ever visited LA and never really looked at places to live. We would want a 2Br for about 2000 a month. I will be working in Beverly hills (roxbury and wilshire) and my job has weird hours (will have to be in by 7am latest and out by 4pm latest) so traffic won't be too bad for me I am told by the people working there. We are looking for any help on where to live. We want the area to be safe, have restaurants around (preferably walking distance but we will have cars), and generally a nice place to live. Any recommendations are appreciated!!

Might be able to swing Larchmont and the surrounding area. In the middle of town, nice feel, rows of shops and restaurants, etc. Found this interesting property on Wilshire:

I would check craigslist and type in "Miracle Mile", "Larchmont", even "Hancock Park" because owners like to piggyback their adjacent properties to that tony area.
