Without a car.

I have a friend coming to visit and I can't pick him up.

A cab is like 70 dollars, but we need that money to hang out, ya know?

Can he take the bus? Metro says something about Flyaway Union Station, but I've never heard of that.

I thought there was a transit station down there? Where you can catch a normal Metro bus? I seem to remember there being one near the Holiday Inn Express? I've only been through LAX once.

from LAX load the bus to the metro green line station couple minutes away, transfer from the green line to blue line which will eventually reach union station.

you should just go get him since you know the LA metro system, or just get a taxi to the metro green line.

Your friend can take the FlyAway bus from LAX to Union Station. The fare is $7.00 and must be paid with a debit or credit card. From Union Station, they can take the Metro RED line to the Hollywood/Western stop. One-way fare is $1.50. See FlyAway website and Metro RED line map below.

I prefer using FlyAway to Metro at Union Station over the bus to the Green Line to Blue to Red/Gold line. It is faster and you get to sit down the entire way.

A quick Internet search gives you the info you need: LAX FlyAway Bus

Been around for years, with buses from LAX to Union Station, Van Nuys, Westwood and Irvine.

The Flyaway bus is great but still gets stuck in traffic. It took me 2 1/2 hours to drive from Vermont/Beverly to LAX one time. And another Hour and a half to get back lol

As would any bus or shuttle van. One could take the free shuttle form LAX to the nearest Green Line light rail station and go to downtown from there but I think that could take longer and be more of a hassle (haven't done it myself).
