Default Rodney King died today

The name Rodney King brings up an ugly chapter in Los Angeles's history. The news indicated he died today, at age 47. It looks like he drowned in a backyard pool in Rialto, CA, and Inland Empire suburb of LA. Watching the videotapes of what transpired was very sad.

RIP Rodney King.

UPDATE 9:27 AM PT -- According to our sources, King's fiancée is telling friends King had been drinking and smoked weed in the hours before his death.

That was a horrid beatdown the cops gave Rodney. I'm not so sure much has changed in the 20 years since -- in LA or any other major city.

Rodney King made the circumstances that led to his beatdown... he is 100 percent responsible for what happened to him. The police officers are 100 percent responsible for their actions... and they paid the price...

Rodney King was a doper and abuser of alcohol

Urban renewal... no tears here

Johnnie Cochran and Rodney's girlfriends got most of the money.. he blew the rest

So endth the lesson

Joe Flynn, William Shatner's wife, now Rodney. I'd say more regulation is in order.

That was a nice looking house he was living at in Rialto. It's kind of sad that he's gone now, we lost an iconic figure of "old LA". A real California native too, born in Sacramento and grew up in Pasadena. One of those people you wish you could have sat down with and gotten to hear some of his stories, I bet he had them.

King lived in rialto & was a good swimmer. I bet drugs had something to do with his death.
