Is this a safe area? Any areas to avoid?

Thank you!

"mid city" is a fake designation used on google maps and the like, no one in the area would refer to the area as such .....

I don't mean to be rude in any way, but most people wont know what you're talking about.

Where specifically are you talking about?

Oh, I didn't know that - thanks. Just that general area of Santa Monica, then. The part of Santa Monica that's 2-3 miles inland.

Generally completely fine. Some fantastic places, some iffy places. The area immediately surrounding Virginia Ave Park is crappy, and any area abutting the 10 freeway. There are almost zero places in santa monica where you would NEVER want to be. The few exceptions would be the few streets behind virginia ave park, as mentioned.

This "retired" businessman from Boston found SM pretty safe for several years Property Managers: Whitey Bulger Lived At Santa Monica Apartment For 15 Years « CBS Boston The place where he lived wasn't far inland, but he apparently was left alone and lived quietly for quite a while before being rudely taken away by government agents.
