Hey guys,
I got a hefty parking ticket in Marina Del Rey. Basically parking was a cluster-fk and the attendant was helping people out and TOLD ME to back into a spot. However there is a "no backing in" sign posted in the parking lot which I didn't notice. Anyway, I called in and they said the ticket is not in the system so I can't contest it yet but the lady also told me that since I have no evidence I don't really have a shot.

Anyone deal with this kind of stuff that can help?

Start by demanding that they put your ticket into their system! After that, demand that they forgive you.

Trolling? Sorry it takes 5 days for it to be added into the system but looking for serious advice only.

Well, don't blame Genghis since you failed to mention the date of the ticket much like how you failed to see the sign regardless of what anyone told you, it is your car, you were driving so it was your fault.
You might contest but I have to agree your chances of winning are pretty slim.

Did you get the parking attendant's name, the one that told you to back in? If not you can find out.
Well, with that info and a witness (real or fabricated), you might have a chance. Using your witness' name and signature, you can state that you backed in that day based on the parking attendant instruction.
and your witness (ahem) can confirm your story, print name, sign, etc.

I'm assuming it was a County ticket, as MDR isn't Incorporated city of LA.

Probably 15.20.070(1) - Obedience to traffic signs. IIRC, its a $60 cite.

Quote:
Every operator and every pedestrian shall comply with and obey every instruction appearing on any traffic sign or other marking, which sign or marking has been erected or placed by authority of the board or commissioner or this Division 1. (Ord. 6544 Ch. 1 Art. 3 § 1319, 1954.)
Once the ticket it in the system, fill out the following form. You have 21 days. Its your word against his, but the sign trumps the parking attendant's "advice".

and you don't "deserve" this ticket because ... ?
If the attendant told you to park along the red curb in front of a fire hydrant, would you do it?

Well, if an official tells you to do something illegal and you get in trouble for it isn't that entrapment?

A parking attendant is not a official. You are screwed! Sorry.
