Well, looking at the valley portion of the city of LA, I'd say it comprises a pretty substantial portion... wouldn't you? Give me some links too man... I'm too lazy to look up information that substantiates your side of the argument. I'm doing my job by giving links to back up my side! Just face it... as much as you want to hate on LA, this stat shows an improvement in the city.

how about if we just admit this is a positive piece of news for LA.Myself I am happy to see less senseless murders of young kids killing each other for no reason other than you live on the wrong block or wear the wrong ballcap.

The LA Times article refers to the first 8 months of 2006 vs. the first 8 months of 2007.

In any case, the numbers of murders are down to a level that hasn't been seen since Yorty was mayor and Davis was police chief, and when the population of LA was smaller than today (i.e. early 70s)

The recent real estate bubble has caused the poor of Compton to now sell their homes to hard workin mexicans and move to more affluent areas such as West La ,Los Feliz,Sfv etc to begin a new reign of terror in a hood near you.A good friend of mine is a 30 year vet LAPD homicide in N hills and trust me crime is up big time and armed brutal robberies are a big problem.

Did you take the time to read the thread, or do you like to just spout off nonsense about LA by default? The article was for the CITY OF LA... INCLUDING THE VALLEY AND WEST LA AND LOS FELIZ. I think I'm gonna take the statistics over this LAPD buddy of yours. Why is it so hard for people to accept good news about Los Angeles? Does it hurt you to have your negative perceptions you hold so dear challenged by cold hard facts?

The West Bureau had half as many gang homicides as in the same period last year. While that's always been the LAPD bureau with the least gang activity, it doesn't just include the West LA division (which has the lowest crime of any LAPD division) or the Pacific division ; it also includes some divisions with considerably rougher neighborhoods, like the Hollywood and Wilshire divisions. Just because gang crime dropped LESS in the Valley than elsewhere doesn't mean it didn't drop.

Meanwhile, DezertDawg's own Antelope Valley gets worse and worse....like I said on another thread, California Banlieue. Palmdale and Lancaster are our own Clichy sus Bois or Aulnay sus Bois.

In the Antelope Valley when a major crime happens it is big news,In LA a year of AV crime happens in a day.All Bratton did was shift the crime around and give it to another area.
