So I'm moving to L.A. next month, and need an extended stay hotel while I search for a place to live like on craigslist. I did a search here and couldn't find any other threads with the question, so sorry if I missed it. Was just wondering if you guys could recommend a good cheap place in or close to L.A.

I checked out the website extendedstayhotels.com but wasn't sure if that was a really reliable site or not.

There is a place in downtown LA that rents furnished apartments on month-to-month basis. The two catches are: 1) I think you have to rent for a 30 day period (no less) ; and 2) the prices are VERY, VERY high. The place is loaded with amenities, etc. It's called Ten Ten Wilshire or something like that.

The website you mentioned sounds like a good starting place. Wish I could be of more help. Good luck.

Yep, yeah. I checked that out. But when I called them up, they said you're forced into a two year lease, so if you're not comfortable agreeing to that long period... forget that...

Some motels have weekly rates. Check the Hotel/Motel section in the LA Times classified ads.

Have you thought about a room rental in a private home?

Depending where you want to stay and your budget. You can try 2-3 star hotels like the Comfort Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Best Western or Motel 6s, Super 8 under $100/night and a bit cheaper away from DTLA like Van Nuys, Bell Gardens, Pasadena, Eagle Rock, Glendale, LAX, etc. These places don't really have small kitchenettes you find in some extended stay hotels and sometimes charge/limit for wifi.

That is not correct. They offer one-month leases, fully furnsihed. The price is EXTREMELY high but you do not have to enter into a 2-year lease. There are no apartments with that type of requirement. Maybe you meant 2-months.....

I see an ad in the LA Times for extended stays at a Days Inn in Glendale every week. I've never been by the place and know nothing about it so check it out thoroughly before committing:
Days Inn
600 N. Pacific
Glendale CA
818-956-0202
The advertised rate for a month is $1090.00.
You may also want to check some of the other chains for similar deals - good luck!

Do you really need an extended stay hotel? Why limit yourself to that? There is this great place called StayON Beverly, check it out.

You also have other options such as Airbnb, or even a hostel. It really depends on what you need out of a place in the meantime, but I think an extended stay hotel would be an unnecessary expense.
