Why? Economics? Not enough students? Can you pick between MB or Redondo High Schools or does it depend on what part of HB you live in?

Mostly young singles live in Hermosa.

I thought they did have one? The only one I know of (and the city, too, since it's the only one there) is called Mira Costa. But people living in Redondo Beach can also attend MC since 2006.

Mira Costa is actually in Manhattan Beach.

Oh, my bad. I read in one news article that they did not include an HS since the school district is too small.

There's no HS in Hermosa Beach. The students in the district can choose to attend either Mira Costa in Manhattan Beach or Redondo Union in Redondo.

Hermosa is small and sandwiched in between the confusing borders of Manhattan Beach and Redondo. It's much closer to Mira Costa, which feels like Redondo but is still Manhattan (I guess all north of Artesia is Manhattan if the South Bay Galleria is considered to be Redondo)

I grew up in Hermosa Beach and went to Mira Costa as did all my local HB friends. It worked out fine and actually was nice to get to know more of the Manattan Beach kids as well. If you're from HB this is just normal stuff. You don't really question it or wonder why HB doesn't have a HS. They are so close to each other its no big deal. I rode my bike, walked with friends, etc... most of my time while attending there. Costa was a great school academically and I think still has a good reputation overall.

Now if you live in south Hermosa Redondo HS may be closer. I'm not sure if there is a school boundry line like Pier Ave.

They're not that close. Never been but Google says it's about 2-3 miles. That's still a ways to walk, especially for tired kids. I know people who live literally down the street from their schools so yeah.

I don't think they're broke at all. The house prices are pretty steep, almost like celebrity-level even if you're not living on the beach (to actually live on it costs several millions).

What I often wonder is, why is there even a hermosa beach to began with? What was the point? Space is extremely limited along that area.
