Every so often I drive to La Crescenta for Dominicks Pizza. I called and the number was disconnected. Also on Yelp it says "Closed" at the top.
I'm very sad if this is true since I have been going here for pizza since the 60's.

Can somebody tell me if this is true?

Oh, no! I hope not! I used to eat there all the time when I was growing up. I don't know the answer to your question, but I'll be sad if this is true. I grew up in the slums of La Canada, over on Ocean View.

Well it is not looking good. This is the only good pizza in the So Cal area. Although I live in Orange County I would go to Dominicks every so often for pizza.

We used to get it all the time while growing up in La Canada too. I didn't even know that Ocean View was part of La Canada. I lived in some Apts on Ocean View near Foothill that was considered Montrose.

There is another pizza place that we used to go to when I was young called Guiseppes on Verdugo. Now the daughter of the owners has opened another one down on Honolulu in Montrose. I may have to try the pizza there and see how it is.

Dominick's Italian Restaurant, a community staple in the Crescenta Valley for more than 40 years, has closed and everything — right down to the light fixtures — has been removed.

VLWH, thanks for the update and the link. That's too bad, but I suppose nothing lasts forever. Considering how many restaurants have come and gone in that 40-year span, we should probably be grateful that Dominick's lasted so long!

I wonder what happened? It is too bad that people actually consider Pizza Hut and Dominos pizza.

Yep. There's brown paper over all the windows.

I think the problem is that, while their pizza was good, the entrees were a bit bland and overpriced. Every time I went in there to pick up a pizza the place was empty.

I'm wondering since you live in La Crescenta if you have tried Guiseppes down on Honolulu in Montrose?
The parents operated the original one on Verdugo. Now someone in the family has reopened this one.
The pizzas used to be really good. I'm not sure if they are following the same recipe.

I haven't tried it, but I keep meaning to! They put a flier in our door about once a week. The place we go for pizza now is Star Cafe (just a few blocks down from Giuseppe's). Their thin-crust pizzas are awesome, esp. the arugula & prosciutto and roasted garlic & mushroom.
