Unanimous decision, who would have thought…

In the latest attempt to regulate what many say is an out-of-control proliferation of medical marijuana dispensaries in Los Angeles, the City Counted voted 14-0 Tuesday to ban pot shops.

Under the ban, each of the 762 dispensaries that have registered with the city will be sent a letter ordering them to shut down immediately. Those that don’t comply may face legal action from the city.

Medical marijuana activists who had packed the council chambers jeered when the vote came down. More than a dozen Los Angeles Police Department officers were called in to quell them.

Maybe it wouldn't have come to this if they stuck to the original intent of the law and MM cards weren't so easy to get.

Methinks that Jose Huizar might have some connection to people who'd make money from shutting down the dispensaries. There have been persistent rumors about his buddy Villar having been a Mongol - while they've never been proven they have been persistent. Huizar's Northeast LA district (which Tony V represented before he became mayor) is the heart of Mongol Nation, and the Mongols have engaged in dealing through the years. Not to mention quite a few southsiders in that district who'd gain from shutting down the dispensaries. Alas, don't have proof.

However, this is definitely a win for gangs, for cartels, and for organized crime of all types.

Absurd. Kiss those record-low crime rates goodbye. Anyway you look at it, there's something not right about this. Very fishy indeed.

Beware venturing into state or federal parklands, again. Those guys know how to use those shiny guns we sold them.

Don't suppose we should revisit Prohibition and shut down all the liquor stores while we're at it?

This state is bass ackwards on so many things.

We obsess about some esoteric (and perhaps merely aesthetic) "environmental issues" and total freedom for certain societal sub cultures.

Meanwhile we have a 1920s attitude for the most part about "the evil weed."

Completely bass ackwards.

Booooooo.

Prime example of city council members not doing anything even close to what their constituents want.

A more sensible solution would've been to limit the amount of dispensaries within city limits, if that's truly the issue. I don't see this ban lasting.

Crack down on the doctors handing out MM cards like candy and there wouldn't be enough business for the current number of dispensaries.
