Risk of major earthquake damage is apparently not exclusive to California.

It woke me up also, but I'm a light sleeper. I'm in Westchester, about 2½ miles from the epicenter. After the quake, the door from my kitchen to the outside would not lock, and so we had to adjust the strike plate. Also, a couple of our sci-fi action figures fell off of a shelf in the living room, but they had been precariously balanced. Since they are plastic, they did not get damaged. I also felt an aftershock around noon.

Yikes! I lived in Gardena for the last 15 years that I was in Southern California! Wonder if that was on the Newport-Inglewood fault, or an offshoot.

I felt the Fontana quake this morning in Aliso Viejo. It was just a very quick jolt, but the brevity and intensity surprised me a bit. I'm more accustomed to what seems like a slow rolling motion.
